10 Scholarships Without GPA Requirements
Let’s be honest, not all of us are great at school. We aren’t all straight-A students, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all use a little help affording college. When you can’t reach the minimum GPA for an academic scholarship it might feel like you can’t get any funds, and that’s just not the case. 

That’s why we’ve compiled a list of 10 scholarships that don’t have a GPA requirement. From duct tape to car paint, you can go wild and rake in those savings.

1. Educators Rising

  • Amount: $500-$5,000
  • Deadline: April 6, 2020

This scholarship is for high school seniors looking to pursue a career in education. This means all aspiring teachers should jump on it. All you need is a 250 word personal statement about why you want to be a teacher, a description of your experience with Educators Rising, a description of your extracurricular activities, and a letter of recommendation.

2. Gilman-McCain Scholarship

  • Amount: $5,000
  • Deadline: May 1, 2020

Looking at studying abroad? The Gilman-McCain helps students who are military dependents gain international experiences. To apply, you need to be enrolled in an accredited school, be a dependent of an active-duty servicemember, a recipient of Title IV federal financial aid, and are currently applying for an international study term or internship.

3. Dimension Law Group Women in Business Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: May 1, 2020

Here’s to all the future businesswomen! Dimension Law Group is a female-led business, and they want to encourage young women to dream big. In order to earn this scholarship you will need to write a 750-1000 word essay on one of your business ideas, provide proof of enrolment to an accredited university, and be a woman. 

4. Lock-Down on Texting and Driving Scholarship

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: June 30, 2020

Willis Toews, PLLC, is looking to reward creative students for their dedication to ending texting and driving for good. To enter this competition, simply design a phone lock screen that discourages texting and driving. Simply download the template from the scholarship page and get designing! Not only will the winner win $1,000, but they will also have their design posted to the Willis Toews website alongside the top 5 runner-ups. The designs will be available for download, making your designs available to the world!

5. Duck Tape Stuck at Prom

  • Amount: $500-$10,000
  • Deadline: June 8, 2020

You may have heard about this one, it’s been around for a little while, but that doesn’t mean you should discount it. Make your choice of a tuxedo or a prom dress using Duck™ brand duct tape and submit photos of your finished outfit to www.stuckatprom.com. The judges make their decisions based on: 20% workmanship, 20% originality, 20% use of color, 20% use of accessories, and 20% use of Duck ™ brand tape. 6. Fight for Freedom Scholarship

  • Amount: $100-$1,000
  • Deadline: May 1, 2020

This one’s for all you criminal justice nuts, or maybe just people who want to explore the law further. The Law Office of Case J. Darwin is offering up to $1,000 for students to write between 750-1000 words on someone who has been wrongly accused or convicted. To apply you will need to be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited post-secondary school and will need to provide a current academic transcript (official or unofficial). Put on your best lawyer hat and fight for someone’s rights!

7. Painting Away Texting and Driving

  • Amount: $1,000
  • Deadline: May 1, 2020

Statistics show that a scary number of drivers between the ages of 18-24 admit to having texted and driving. Maybe you’ve even done it. That doesn’t mean you can’t help break the cycle! Dixie Law Group is encouraging students to draw anti-texting and driving messages on their cars with car paint, take a photo of it, and post it on social media with the hashtag #DontTextAndDrive. That simple! You just need to be enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university. Time to get painting!

8. The Nicholas A. Virgilio Memorial Haiku and Senryu Competition

  • Amount: $100
  • Deadline: March 23, 2020

This competition is for students in grades 7-12 who have an ear and a hand for poetry. Students are allowed to submit up to three previously unpublished haikus to the Haiku Society of America. Winning submissions may also be published on the HSA website and/or in anthologies published by the HSA.

9. Niche “No Essay” Scholarship

  • Amount: $2,000
  • Deadline: March 31, 2020

This is about as easy as it gets and it’s open to all high school and college students. Simply create an account with Niche and you’ll be entered in the competition. Good luck!

10. “Would You Rather” Financial Quiz Scholarship

  •  Amount: $2,500
  • Deadline: March 31, 2020

For all you students who would rather spend time taking quizzes than studying history or learning how to pay bills (no judgment, we totally get it), this scholarship’s for you. Just take a quiz where you decide between various financial situations, get free advice from actual financial professionals, and then share your results with your friends. The people at DoSomething.org want to help increase financial literacy, and they’re doing it by giving away money! Good for them!
