The BigSun Scholarship helps high school athletes pursue their academic goals. All student athletes who are high school seniors or in college may apply. The only requirement? You must be involved with a sport in your school or community. All sports are eligible.
The scholarship is an essay-based scholarship meaning that you need to write an essay to win the scholarship.

How to Apply for the BigSun Scholarship?

- Have sports influenced how you relate to your family?

What Is the Deadline for the BigSun Scholarship?
The deadline for the scholarship is June 19, 2020. The winner receives notification within two weeks of the deadline. The name of the winner is also posted on the website.
Tips on Winning the BigSun Scholarship
Winning the BigSun Scholarship has nothing to do with high grades and test scores. While academic success is important for college admission and many scholarships, for the BigSun Scholarship it isn’t.
For this scholarship, all emphasis is placed on your essay. Your essay will make or break your chances of winning the scholarship.
As with all scholarship essays, it’s important to be authentic and speak your truth. Did the sport you play provide an escape for you from hectic family life at home? Does the sport you play bring you closer with a family member? Has the sport you play led you to want a career in sports broadcasting? These are all topics you can include in your essay.
Make your essay personal! There is only one unique ‘you’ out there. Make the reader feel like they are in your shoes by sharing personal experiences that you’ve had in life.

You don’t need to be the best athlete or at the top of your class to win the BigSun Scholarship! You just need to be a student athlete who loves your sport.
