"Hi my name is Mary Suggs and I’m a 16 year old upcoming senior from North Carolina. I was so surprised that I was chosen and at how much I won from doing so little. This scholarship will be added to the funds for my studies hopefully at a BS/MD school which are very expensive so ever bit counts. I’ve been applying for a lot of different scholarships and I didn’t really think I’d actually win one because I know how easy it is to apply and there will be many others who want to take advantage of an opportunity. But at the same time even though everyone thinks this the opposite happens. There are a lot of people who from this doubt don’t apply as much or stop applying altogether. I was also like this similar to many others but just when I least expected it I won a scholarship out of 20,000 other applicants. I and many others are proof that when in doubt you should keep applying because you never know what will happen. If I can win you can win too."
