Ohio Scholarships

John C. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship

The John C. Lincoln Memorial Scholarship awards students interested in welding engineering. Applicants must be living or attending school in Ohio or Arizona. They must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and show financial need. The award amount is $14,000.

Wright State University/SAE Engineering Scholarship

This scholarship awards students at Wright State University. Applicants must be freshmen in the College of Engineering and Computer Science. The award amount is $1,000.

Ohio EPA Scholarship

Students at colleges in Ohio may apply for this Scholarship. Applicants must study environmental science or environmental engineering. They must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. They must be entering their junior or senior year. The award amount is up to $2,500 for students in two-year programs and up to $5,000 for four- and five-year colleges.

Community Foundation of Shelby County

The Community Foundation of Shelby County grants many different scholarships. There are scholarships for high school seniors, college students, and adults in Ohio. There is a general application for all scholarships. Some scholarships require students to submit an essay. Award amounts vary.

Ohio Parks and Recreation Association Foundation

This foundation awards students pursuing recreation, parks, and leisure studies. Applicants must be residents of Ohio. They must have a 3.0 GPA in their major and a cumulative GPA of 2.5. The award amount is $1,000.

Ohio College Opportunity Grant (OCOG)

The Ohio Department of Higher Education awards the Ohio College Opportunity Grant. Applicants must be residents of Ohio and enrolled at a college or university in Ohio. They must show financial need as determined by the FAFSA. Award amounts vary.

Ohio Safety Officers College Memorial Fund

Children and spouses of peace officers, firefighters, and safety officers may apply for this scholarship. Applicants must live in Ohio and be pursuing a bachelor’s degree. The award covers full tuition.

Ohio Newspaper Association University Journalism Scholarships

The Ohio Newspaper Association awards students studying journalism, advertising, marketing, or communications. Applicants must be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year at an accredited school in Ohio. They must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. The award amount is $1,250.

Richland County Foundation

The Richland County Foundation awards scholarships to residents of Richland County. Applicants must be undergraduate college students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. They must maintain a 2.0 GPA to keep the scholarship. Students must have a financial need to win the scholarship. Award amounts vary.

The Ability Center

The Ability Center awards scholarships to students with disabilities. Applicants must have a disability and be a resident of a listed county in Ohio. They must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The award amount is $2,000. 

Zinggia Ohio Art Scholarship

A high school senior from Ohio may apply for the Zinggia Ohio Art Scholarship. Applicants must plan to pursue a career in an art-related field. They must major in illustration, graphic design, and photography, among others. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The award amount is $2,000.

The Ernst Scholarship

The Ernst Scholarship awards current ABC/Ordained pastors of American Baptist Churches in Ohio. Applicants must pursue post-graduate ministry degrees at accredited institutions. The award amount is $1,500. 

The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation Scholarships

The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation awards several scholarships to residents of Ohio. Students must live in one of several counties in the Foundation’s service area. Students can apply for several scholarships with one application. Every scholarship has different eligibility requirements. The award amount varies.

Ohio War Orphans Scholarship

Children of deceased or disabled Ohio Veterans may apply for this scholarship. Applicants must pursue an associate or bachelor’s degree at a college in Ohio. They must be residents of Ohio and under the age of 25. The award amount varies.

 

Rosa Hartsook Endowed Scholarship

The Rosa Hartsook Endowed Scholarship supports Ohio graduate students in occupational therapy. Applicants must be studying at an Ohio university. The award amount varies.

Department President’s Scholarship

The American Legion Auxiliary Department of Ohio awards scholarships to freshmen college students. Applicants must be veterans or direct descendants of an honorably discharged veteran. There are two scholarships available for $1,000 and $1,500.

Lloyd A. Chacey, P.E. Memorial Scholarship

The Lloyd A. Chacey Memorial Scholarship supports future engineers. Applicants must have family members in the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. They must be finishing their sophomore year at an Ohio college or university. They must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and show financial need. The award amount is $2,000.

Accountancy Board of Ohio Education Assistance Program

The Accountancy Board of Ohio helps students pay for the fifth year of study required for CPA certification in Ohio. Applicants must show financial need and submit the FAFSA. They must complete 120 credits before applying. The award amount varies.

Ohio State University/Motorsports Team/SAE Engineering Scholarship

This scholarship grants undergraduate students who have participated in Motorsports teams. Applicants must be incoming freshmen at Ohio State University. The award amount is up to $500.

Horatio Alger Ohio Scholarship

High School seniors in Ohio may apply for the Horatio Alger Ohio Scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and show financial need. The award amount is $10,000.

Elisha Hall Memorial Scholarship

Female members of Women in Aviation may apply for this scholarship. Applicants must have an interest in aviation. Preference is given to applicants in Cincinnati and the tri-state area. The award amount is $2,000.

ONU Legacy Award

Students at Ohio Northern University may apply for the ONU Legacy Award. Applicants must be dependents of Ohio Northern University alumni. They must have a sibling enrolled at the university. The award amount is $3,000.

ONU Merit Scholarships

High school seniors who are enrolled at Ohio State University may apply. They must have a minimum ACT score of 23 or 1090 on the SAT. Students can win up to $21,000 per year.

Charles L. Stanford Family Ohio State University Railway Engineering Scholarship

The Charles L. Stanford Engineering Scholarship awards engineering students at Ohio State University. Applicants must have completed at least one semester at Ohio State University. They must have a minimum 2.0 GPA and have an interest in railway engineering. The award amount is $1,000.

Ohio CPA Foundation Statewide College Scholarship Program

The Ohio CPA Foundation awards merit scholarships to undergraduates or graduates in Ohio. Applicants must be students at a college or university in Ohio and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. They must plan to finish the 150 semester hours required for the CPA exam. The award amount is $2,000.

Thomas W. Porter, W8KYZ, Scholarship Honoring Michael Daugherty, W8LSE

Licensed radio amateurs in Ohio may apply for the Thomas W. Porter, W8KYZ Scholarship. Applicants must attend accredited two- or four-year colleges, universities, or trade schools. The award amount is $1,000.

Boyd Family Scholarship Fund

African-American high school seniors of Glenville High School may apply for this scholarship. They must have a minimum 3.75 GPA. The award amount is $1,000.

Charles D. Whitmer Fund Scholarship

The Charles D. Whitmer Fund awards scholarships to student entrepreneurs. They must attend college or university full-time. The award amount is $1,000.

Charles Hildreth Kelso Scholarship

This scholarship awards African American students who are Ohio residents. They must graduate from Glenville High School or Collinwood High School. They must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and plan to major in Education. The award amount is $1,000.

Charlotte Alexander Scholarship

The Charlotte Alexander Scholarship awards residents of Cleveland or the inner-ring suburbs. High school seniors and adults up to age 28 may apply. They must be pursuing an undergraduate degree or vocational/technical degree. They must have a GPA between 2.0-3.3. The award amount is $1,500.

Cleveland’s Future Engineers Scholarship

The Cleveland Foundation awards graduating high school seniors of Cuyahoga County. Applicants must plan to attend a four-year college or university and have a minimum 3.2 GPA. They must have an interest and show academic achievement in STEM fields. The award amount varies.

Wilma A. Chapman Scholarship Fund

Students with a mental illness can apply for the Wilma A. Chapman Scholarship Fund. Applicants may be undergraduate or graduate students with a minimum 2.0 GPA. They must show financial need. The award amount is $1,000.

Alton LaMaur Character Memorial Scholarship

The Alton LaMaur Character Memorial Scholarship awards graduating seniors of Collinwood High School. Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Preference is given to African-Americans with an interest in violence mediation and prevention. The award amount is $1,500.

Graham Family Scholarship

The Graham Family Scholarship awards incoming freshmen at Kent State University. Applicants must graduate from a Carroll County high school. They must submit their art portfolio. The award amount is $7,500 per year.

Ohio Safety Officers Memorial Fund

Children and spouses of police, firefighters, army personnel, and safety officers killed on duty may apply for this scholarship. Applicants must be Ohio residents. They may study full-time or part-time at a participating Ohio college. The award amount covers 100% of tuition at public colleges and universities. It covers $8,451 per year at private universities.

Steven L. & Salena A. Hitchens Scholarship

The Catholic Foundation of Ohio awards the Steven L. & Salena A. Hitchens Scholarship. Applicants must be graduating seniors of Newark Catholic High School. They must pursue a degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Applicants must be nominated by a parish or school leader. The award amount varies.

Women’s Civic Club of Cleveland Heights Scholarship

This scholarship gives money to Cleveland Heights High school graduates. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university, or vocational school. They must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. The award amount is $1,000.
