This month’s spotlight shines on Michelle, the winner of the $10,000 “Know Your Worth Scholarship” from TuitionFit.org on the ScholarshipOwl platform! So in just 60 days, she managed to earn a HUGE scholarship through our platform!

What led you to join ScholarshipOwl?

I heard about ScholarshipOwl by searching for scholarships on Google because I was really in need of money for college.

Have you received any other scholarships from other sources beyond ScholarshipOwl?

Not yet!

What features of the ScholarshipOwl platform do you find most helpful, and why?

I like being able to see the number of applicants for a listed scholarship. Additionally, I like the ability to search for specialized scholarships.

Compared to other methods of searching/applying for scholarships, what do you like best about the ScholarshipOwl platform?

I like how ScholarshipOwl doesn’t ploy me into “scholarships” that heavily market third party services.

Which scholarship type(s) do you like the most, and why?

Essay and video scholarships are my preferred picks because I get to narrate and communicate our human nature and connect to our donors on a deeper level.

Applying for scholarships takes time, energy and persistence. How do you stay motivated to apply for scholarships?

I think of what my life would continue to be without altering my opportunities through schooling, and then I focus on the good that can be created through these efforts.

I choose scholarships that resonate with me and my unique life experience.

What tip(s) can you offer to students that might boost their chances of earning scholarships through the ScholarshipOwl platform?

When applying to essay scholarships, continually edit your main essay to make it better and more impactful.

When you found out you had won a scholarship through our platform, how did it make you feel?

I was in shock for several days! Having this scholarship changes my opportunities and makes school possible.

If you could give one piece of advice to other students, what would it be?

Tell your self-doubt to take a hike and remind yourself that you are amazing, unique, and you matter!

Lastly, what is your superpower?

Overcoming trauma.
