This month, we are spotlighting Camryn Miller, who recently won TWO scholarships through the ScholarshipOwl platform! She received a $2000 scholarship for the “Influencers Influence Us Scholarship,” and a $500 scholarship for the “FAFSA Kick-Off Scholarship.” And what is even more amazing is that she has been a member of ScholarshipOwl for less than three months! What’s more, Camryn is a high school senior, so in addition to applying for scholarships, she’s also had her hands full with applying to colleges. As you’ll see here with her winning entries into these two media scholarships, Camryn really puts her all into everything she does, whether that be applying for scholarships, or preparing for her future. She will be majoring in philosophy, and then plans to go to law school to become a family law attorney.

Here is Camryn’s winning entry for the Influencers Influence Us Scholarship:

What led you to join ScholarshipOwl?

I watched a few YouTube videos on the platform and with such good recommendations I decided that it would be beneficial for me to join. Which from my winnings thus far, it has evidently proved to be!

What features of the ScholarshipOwl platform do you find most helpful, and why?

I really enjoy knowing the number of applicants, as I often use this feature to determine whether applying for this scholarship is a good use of my time. I also like the automatic reapplication feature as it has proved to be quite handy in applying for recurring scholarships.

Compared to other methods of searching/applying for scholarships, what do you like best about the ScholarshipOwl platform?

I like that the program feels personal. For example: After winning a scholarship, Jen reached out to me to ensure that I got the proper recognition for my win.

Applying for scholarships takes time, energy and persistence. How do you stay motivated to apply for scholarships?

I continue to remind myself that applying for scholarships is only increasing my chances at earning money to fund my future education. I try not to overwhelm myself, but set goals each week to see what my schedule has time for 🙂

We would love to hear about your scholarship strategies! When you are using the scholarship platform, how do you decide which scholarships to apply for?

I apply to scholarships that interest me. This platform has many scholarships, each with a variety of requirements to apply. Though I have applied to scholarships requiring essays, I tend to gravitate more towards creativity-based scholarships.

What tip(s) can you offer to students that might boost their chances of earning scholarships through the ScholarshipOwl platform?

  • Pick scholarships with little applicants!
  • Attempt to show your personality in some way!
  • Think outside of the box!

How has the ScholarshipOwl community on Discord helped you with your college planning, financial aid / scholarship questions, applying for college, etc?

The ScholarshipOwl community on Discord has been very welcoming and I appreciate all of the congratulations I received after my winnings were announced.

When you found out you had won a scholarship through our platform, how did it make you feel?

I felt overjoyed! Throughout the application process I felt like the chances of winning were slim; however, with each win I’m only further encouraged to apply for more scholarships! I remember being at work and reading the message notifying me that I had won. I felt so proud of myself 🙂

If you could give one piece of advice to other students, what would it be?

Anything is possible if you believe in yourself 🙂 Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone when applying to scholarships that require a social media post!

Lastly, what is your superpower?

Spreading awareness to things I’m passionate about.
