So, why are parents sending their children to private school and how are they affording it?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Why Private School?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are several benefits to sending your child to private school. Here are some of them:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Smaller classroom sizes.<\/strong> Private schools can afford to hire more teachers. This means that classroom sizes are generally smaller. This allows students to get more individual support.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Academic opportunities.<\/strong>\u00a0Private schools offer many opportunities for all types of learners. Your child may need special education or advanced classes. But, they vary a great amount across the United States. Some areas may offer better public schools than others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>If cost is the main concern, private school scholarships exist. This can provide a big relief and help you get the education that you desire for your children.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Where to Find Financial Aid?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first step should be consulting with the private school\u2019s administrative office. Many private schools are willing to help parents out by giving them a tuition break.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A second place to inquire is with your state\u2019s department of education. They might offer scholarships for students wishing to study at a private school.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Voucher Programs<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">K-12 scholarships are generally referred to as voucher programs. Families win vouchers on the basis of financial need. Families are usually required to pay at least 25% of the <a href=\"https:\/\/scholarshipowl.com\/blog\/college-life\/out-of-state-college-tuition-increase-since-1998\/\">tuition<\/a> or $500, whichever is a higher cost.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are two big voucher programs in the U.S:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scholarshipowl.com\/blog\/apply-for-scholarships\/childrens-scholarship-fund\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Children\u2019s Scholarship Fund<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jkcf.org\/our-scholarships\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jack Kent Cooke Foundation<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vouchers are very competitive as there aren\u2019t many funds available.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>State Scholarships<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some states offer more private school scholarships than others. Florida is a particularly generous state which offers students several scholarship programs. The<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stepupforstudents.org\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step Up for Students<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> program awards scholarships to low-income students in K-12th grade.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fldoe.org\/schools\/school-choice\/k-12-scholarship-programs\/fes\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Family Empowerment Scholarship<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">grants money to low-income and working-class families for private school.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Georgia is another state which sponsors several scholarship programs for private school. The<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.payitforwardscholarships.com\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pay it Forward Scholarship<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> awards scholarships to students from pre-K through 12th grade.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.goalscholarship.org\/for_parents\/\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> awards private school scholarships to students in K-12.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Students of Color<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4998\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarshipowl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/student.jpg\" alt=\"Private School Scholarships\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/>There are several programs throughout the United States that support families of color. Many of these families live in inner-cities where there isn\u2019t a quality school system. The goal of these programs is to give students of color a chance to get a quality education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abetterchance.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A Better Chance<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> connects students in grades 4-9 with over 300 private schools. They don\u2019t award scholarships, but they help students find schools and financial aid.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Scholarships at Private Religious Schools<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you would like to send your child to a religious school, turn to help from religious organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pieschools.org\/frequently-asked-questions-faqs\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partners in Excellence Scholarship Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> helps Catholic students in Baltimore pay for private school.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This program awards students with an average of $2,100 per year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Online Private School<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students interested in receiving an online education can apply to win a scholarship at K12 International Academy. The<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.icademy.com\/admissions\/scholarship-program.html\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">K12 Scholarship Program<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> awards four full-time scholarships for students entering 9th grade. Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and show financial need.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Private school tuition can be costly. If you are lacking the means to afford a private school education, don\u2019t give up.
