Laptop, tablet or smartphone, you\u2019re reading this blog on a device created using the expertise, theories and skills gained from\u00a0computer science degrees. If you want to study computer science, read some of the career outlooks below.<\/p>\n<h2>Outlook Looks Good for Science Grads<\/h2>\n<p>Don\u2019t believe the skeptics! As a Computer Science Student, technological change or\u00a0obsolescence will not prevent you from landing a great job when you graduate. Google and\u00a0other prestigious tech firms continue to welcome new recruits with great ideas \u2013 they only expect you to adapt to their corporate culture. Nor is it just the big guys that are keeping tab of the job\u00a0market. Take the 2015 US survey below, for example. <strong>Demand for computer science\u00a0employees exceeded the supply of new graduates by almost ten times:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theatlas.com\/charts\/B1rFqVkjl\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1079\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarshipowl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/atlas_B1rFqVkjl@2x.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"603\" height=\"147\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>You Have Options<\/h2>\n<p>If you graduate with a Computer Science degree, it will expand your choices for finding long-term,\u00a0progressive employment. Below is a table of jobs that are suitable for a Computer Science Graduate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/scholarshipowl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/blog-jobs.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-1080\" src=\"https:\/\/scholarshipowl.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/blog-jobs.png\" alt=\"Computer Science Related Jobs\" width=\"602\" height=\"299\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>You Can Make More Money<\/h2>\n<p>Computer Science (CS) graduates in 2015 commanded the highest average <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itworld.com\/article\/2945674\/careers\/computer-science-students-are-in-demand-and-they-know-it.html\">starting salary<\/a> of\u00a0$66,000 per year. Moreover, 32% of CS grads earned at least $75K and 13% even exceeded\u00a0$100K. CS Majors appreciate their value as they continue to be in demand. Practically\u00a0speaking, this means that even entry level salary is negotiable in favor of the applicant, unlike in\u00a0the past when starting salaries were capped.<\/p>\n<h2>Even Non-CS Majors Can Benefit<\/h2>\n<p>Not every graduate student will finish his studies as a Computer Science Major. But everybody\u00a0can benefit from taking one or more computer science courses (credits) towards the fulfillment of\u00a0their respective degrees. Expectations for any position whether it be business, medical,\u00a0mechanical, service or market oriented will demand a minimum level of technical understanding.\u00a0In particular, train yourself to work with end-user software, on-line applications and the like.\u00a0Virtually every business activity is dependent on computer technology.<\/p>\n<h2>Starting from the Bottom is Good Too<\/h2>\n<p>Notwithstanding the above, there is nothing wrong with taking a \u201cStepping-Stone\u201d approach to\u00a0career planning, by starting out, for example as a Network User Support and the like. In this\u00a0manner, you can develop fundamentals such as communication and problem-solving skills,\u00a0moving forward.
